As background, after a few miscarriages, Terri delivered a very premature
little girl in 1976 at 5 months of pregnancy; she weighed 1 pound 7 ounces.
Unfortunately, our daughter, Andrea, passed away soon thereafter, primarily
due to the lack of development of her vital organs. Two years later, Rick Jr. was born 3 months premature and also weighed a mere 1 pound 13 ounces.
Suffice it to say, the neonatologists gave him a minimal chance of surviving
because of his extremely low birth weight and underdeveloped vital organs.
We are happy to say that he is now 26 years old, has graduated college, and is an entrepreneur developing a career in marketing and entertainment where he strategically
places products in movies, TV and awards shows.
If it weren't for the intense medical care given by the physicians and
nurses at Saint Barnabas Medical Center as well as the various technologies
that existed in 1978, our son would not have survived. With the continued
advances in such technology and therapeutic agents, more prematurely born
babies can survive! Hence, our interest in this area and the beginning of
the "Little-Life" Foundation to help fund the research necessary to realize
such advances in the future. We invite and welcome you to join us in our efforts.
Thank you,
Rick & Terri
